Collaboration Innovation- from social media to social product

MacroWikinomics Rebooting Business and the World is a follow up on  the book Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything by Don Tapscott and Anthony D.Williams. The book explores the concepts of mass collaboration leading to mass production but on the digital platform. In 2006 the boundaries on cyber space and the importance of social media was still establishing itself. In 2010 it was vitally clear that we were in the midst of a digital revolution. Macrowikinomics explains how the 5 principles of 1) Collaboration 2) Openness 3) Sharing 4) Integrity and 5) Interdependence can all work towards changing how all industries function. It is not just about social media being a space for social marketing through technology. It is how the internet through thinking outside the box, sharing resources, understanding that by allowing to be open to other people’s ideas and exchanging skills many sectors of the world we live in can change for the better.

Our World needs to be fixed. History has to repeat itself and usually a revolution happens when knowledge and circumstances allow people to wakeup and take action. Feudalism got revolutionized due to the printing press and the coming together of people and sharing their resources. Accepting interdependence and good faith allowed changes to happen. The internet is our new printing press. We are in the era of network intelligence where technology as conditioned us to be faster, smarter and more skilled than we had even imagined.

An example of how powerful the theory of MacroWiknomics is Ushahidi: A crowd sourcing tool used in wars, elections & natural disasters- created by the use of internet, and inadvertently has helped millions of people worldwide. What started off as a simple crisis -mapping site evolved into an online social media platform to help and empower people in protecting health and much more.
PS: it was put together in a few days without the use of government funds! http://www.ushahidi.com/

The evolution of the traditional printing from newspapers to online papers as well as online marketing is inadvertently applying the 5 principles. It is not to say that this will created a movement right away but it is food for thought in taking steps to be the change that we want. Another example is the Linux open software network- it has taken years to get where it is today but there was the principle of integrity and the willingness to want to create a world which is not broken. The traditional model of command and control is failing Largely due to the global awareness that’s at our finger tips today. The authors take these principles and attempt to breathe fresh air into problems such as health care, climate change and government.

The role of community and coming together will be the building foundation while using the 5 applications to change how things are today. Occupy Wall Street movement was a hint of how people are feeling, and coursea https://www.coursera.org/ is another example of open network sharing platform.

There is definitely a movement taking place- and as much as it may feel its a giant boulder to move, its really a matter of starting with various size rocks and moving it around. It’s going to be upon each one of us to join in, but inevitably we cant escape from.

“I failed my way to Success”

failure1Everyone says failure is part of success. Understanding failure allows you to know what you are good at, and makes you better than you used to be.

Easier said than done.

No one likes to fail. No matter how well you are skilled at your craft, rejection kills. It makes us doubt ourselves and what we are trying to accomplish. This is especially tough for startups or entrepreneurs, with emphasize on the creative kind as ideas flow and trying to contain them and make it happen can lead to a lot of projects not getting completed.

Taking failure as constructive criticism and growing from it can only happen if you allow your mind to condition itself to expect it, set mini goals to learn and evolve from it.

Change your habits, create a more inviting workspace, try different ways to achieve what you know is doable and make it happen.

NEVER LET ANYONE and I mean ANYONE even your own family tell you its not worth it.

…because it is.

Have a productive week,

Connection vs Engagment #socialmedia

Almost everyday I am asked by young entrepreneurs in various industries how can they get more Facebook likes, or twitter followers, etc.  There are plenty of webinars, by solo entrepreneurs in  creating marketing plans for Facebook or Instagram etc which usually in the ends talks about using the ads system of reach respective social media platform and registering for their classes etc.

Nothing is wrong with this, but usually as you read or hear them a big part of you reacts by feeling- well this is common sense I knew this.

But does it really matter how many likes/followers you have versus how many clients/fans etc you have?  What is the point of having 5000 likes and 1 like being converted into dollars? An online presence requires so much time and energy; as a business man (woman) your time is valuable. everything you do has a price to it; so might as well make sure your presence gives you the ROI that you need.

Convert your likes into dollars by the simple and forgotten method of “consumer” engagement. If you have 5 likes engage with them- post content that creates a conversation, reply to every comment or message,  write on other’s blog/Facebook ,tweet etc This not only helps you build your online brand but your reputation as well as long run clients. In todays fast pace industry connection isn’t enough- too much is out there on the web; making friends and keeping those friends is the way to go.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking – well 5 likes or 100 followers wont help me NOW to get that gig. Let your community build your online presence and if you are as good as you think/say you are you will still get where you want to be.

Feri- Global Wealth Trade

Have you always wanted to start your own business? Make your own money? …And make lots of it? If your looking to be an entrepreneur and have a passion for fashion and jewelry and you’re interested in making some extra income, well, you just might be in luck.

I present “Global Wealth Trade Corporation”.

Sorry if this sounds like a sales pitch, or a commercial…I promise, its not. Let me explain:

I recently attended a seminar for “GWT” a retailing company that was first officially launched in 2007 by founder and CEO Ramin Mesgarlou. This up and coming Canadian based designer fashion house, that produces merchandise such as handbags, hand gloves, sunglasses, timepieces, including other accessories and luxurious jewelry, they even feature tungsten, silver, and their very own special plangsten line (a mix of platinum and tungsten) have their own official brands, called “Feri”, “Feri Mosh” and “Posh”.

Yes, THREE of them.

The conference, which was held in Montreal at the Ruby Foo hotel, is set up by explaining how the company first got started, their goals and finally what their ambitions for the future are and through “GWT” they teach you how and why you should create your very own business simply by investing a small amount of 169$ and launching your own “virtual mall” the company is set up by networking levels, where the more you network and have people join, the more your residual income increases. Basically, you get paid forever…. sounds too good to be true? It just might be and could potentially be a viable opportunity to reach your financial freedom goals. So far, their designer lines have been doing pretty well and even celebrities have been seen wearing and representing the Canadian brand. Global Wealth Trade clearly uses multilevel marketing to sell and promote their products and if you’re willing to invest the time and money and put in the effort into this fast growing company, this just might be up your ally.
